But even then people make mistakes that are common. The main reason for this is lack of experience and knowledge. As with anything, you need to learn as much as possible about it before you think about starting. Given below are a few mistakes that can be easily taken care if you focus on them.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make with AdWords is only using one ad group for all your different keywords rather than creating different ad groups. Using a single ad group for all of your keywords may be tempting. Putting all of your keywords in one ad group, however, will hamper your ability to effectively target keywords when you consider that there are quite a few possible keyword variations. Since your goal is to target your keywords as much as possible, you are better off making separate ads for different keywords. You will have more effective ads this way, as they will be more distinct and targeted. Another mistake you want to avoid is not paying any attention to your competition. Many advertisers just don’t look into this area and then wonder what went wrong with their ads. Knowing what your competition is doing is crucial. A fast and simple way to conduct this research is with the Google Keyword Tool. When you want to research a competitor, type in their url and find out what keywords they are using. You can also spend a few minutes looking over their website, seeing how it looks and feels, what kind of content they are using and so forth. There are more sophisticated tools you can use, such as SpyFu.com, where you can learn your competitor’s site rank and find out how much they spend on pay per click. By searching under some of their keywords, you can see what their actual ads look like, what words and text they use and so on.
Another mistake is to enter the content network, without making any modifications to your bids. First of all, the content network should be left for the experts. If you do enter it, make sure you are wary of what you are bidding. Google recently made a few changes to their Adwords platform which made it so that users could bid differently for the content network and also for the search engine results. Therefore, if you don’t set your bid different for the content network, you’re only going to end up spending more than you want to. When you have lower prices on your keywords, it will make sure your CTR stays constantly even after you bring the bidding amount down. The fact is, if you are alert enough to not make these mistakes with Google AdWords, you can use this service to bring you lots of high quality traffic. Using keywords that are too broad or not watching the competition will make it more difficult for you to profit. It may take a little time and patience, but if you do the proper keyword research and manage your campaigns carefully, you will be able to crack the AdWords code.
