The net is full of methods to make money, however you can easily get started by simply promoting good products online. Whether you’re selling other people’s products, as an affiliate, or you like creating your own products - doesn’t matter. However, you can expect to have challenges, and you will no doubt make some mistakes. We want to diminish the amount of mistakes in your business, and that’s why we’re presenting a discussion on several of the more commonly encountered mistakes.
Not every marketer engages in search engine marketing, but you should really seriously think about it because of the quality of the traffic and it’s not paid advertising. It’s funny, sort of, because we see all kinds of strange approaches to getting traffic, and really if they just focused on SEO, then they would eventually see success. Search traffic shouldn’t be ignored only because it is highly targeted and free - not paid advertising. Naturally, there’s work involved, and it will take time and effort. After you’re indexed in Google, it’s not done - you have to work at getting your backlinks so you can rank. If you don’t know, there are two main SEO areas consisting of the on-page factors - keywords, proper setup and nav structure; and then the off-page is concerned with backlinking, etc. Just know that the first time you go through this process is the worst, and then after that it becomes a lot easier with repetition. Search engines like Google receive millions of visitors per day, and you can capture some of that traffic. Apart from that, it’s not that difficult to get ranked in the search engines for less competitive keywords that have a high search volume. So, you can use Google’s free External Keyword tool, or their keyword tool associate with Adwords. If you work offline in a camera shop, consider the marketing you currently use for 35mm film scanner and see if you can translate it to online scanner sales. Another big mistake is not creating compelling sales copy that addresses what your target audience wants. Good internet marketers know the importance of increasing sales. If you really want to succeed, focus on creating sales copy that is good quality and delivers a compelling call to action. Many Internet marketers blame poor products or a saturated market for their failures, but in reality it’s a lack of good sales copy affecting results. When you know how to use words to convince your prospects, it gets easier to get the sale. You can create effective copy in a number of different ways. The AIDA formula can help you stay on track (attention, interest, desire, action) and be sure to add as many benefits for the customer as you can. You have to have a copy that sells the benefits, not the features. If you’re not able to create a sales copy, then outsource it to a good copywriter but don’t ignore it.
This mistake can get anyone, and that is hanging on to a dud product that we’ve created because it’s tough to admit that it just sucks.
It’s normal because when we create something we are investing our emotions and time into it, so it really can be hard. Yes, we’ve all fallen in love with our own creations. But make sure you aren’t doing this blunder because first of all, it’s okay to make a mistake. And secondly, the best way to mend it is to move on. But make sure there’s no other explanation such as targeting the wrong market with the wrong product - doh! So if you are focusing your business based around a photo or slide product such as slide and negative scanner, keep at it and do not give up. These mistakes are so prevalent because so many people don’t take the time to learn a bit about Internet marketing before they begin. Keep the points we discussed above and apply them practically to your business.
